Unibody Design
The Reference Unibody Platform takes its name from its revolutionary unibody construction, where the entire structure functions as a single, integrated unit to control vibrations and resonance. Unlike conventional platforms that rely on external dampening, this platform achieves superior stability and isolation through its inherent design, providing an unmatched foundation for your high-fidelity components.
Materials & Construction
Expertly crafted, each platform features two precision-machined aluminum plates that sandwich a core of multi-density materials. This advanced construction provides a rigid, unibody structure that effectively isolates the core, allowing it to absorb and dissipate vibrations with remarkable efficiency. The entire assembly is elegantly encased in a CNC-machined solid wood frame. This reinforces the core’s structural integrity. Over the years, I’ve made numerous upgrades to my system, but the latest one—Woodyard’s Reference platforms—wasn’t something I expected to significantly enhance sound quality. To my surprise, I was proven completely wrong. Not only did the separation and 3D imaging become noticeably clearer, but harmonic distortions, especially in the bass region below 150 Hz, dropped by an impressive 70-80%! There were certain ‘challenging’ tracks with deep bass—like Tangerine Dream’s Phaedra—that I couldn’t previously enjoy above 85-90 dBA due to those distortions. Now, that’s no longer an issue. Additionally, in the mid-to-high frequency range, the sound has become much more refined and slightly more relaxed, eliminating the aggressiveness I used to notice, particularly on heavily compressed digital masters. The difference was so striking that it genuinely felt like I’d upgraded my speakers entirely!
